An orphan sucking on boiled sweets
Sits on the side walk
Frayed jeans tickling his ankles
In benedictions given by the breeze.
The breeze, which on a hot pink day
Searing scraps from a notebook
Magnified and lit on fire,
Blows the flames out all too quickly.
Too quickly a raven struts by
Misfit in black feathers side walking
Beady eye on the lookout
For findings to weave a nest.
A nest for precious marbles
Hidden under a notebook
Stolen by an orphan rummaging
From under the ravens nose.
The raven knows about courage
Once he’s woven his nest he’ll summon his
Pluck the marbles out and leave behind
Precious flames in those frayed jeans.
Frayed jeans worn by an orphan
Sitting on a misfit sidewalk sucking
Boiled sweets lighting fires sending out
Benedictions magnified by the breeze.

I’m visiting Arizona for the first time where it is scorching! Astonishingly different to where my family and I drove out here from, and the breeze, my but it feels like a benediction indeed. It is a pleasure to read of your enjoyment 🙂
